2010 - Commissioned Artwork
As a trade for programming this site, I agreed to a very challenging commission. Shawn McCann, of plustwelve, sent me a copy of an unnamed album and asked that the work be inspired by listening to the music. A further limitation was to create the work to be viewed at any angle. I have to admit, I love a good challenge.
Upon delivery, Shawn revealed the band as The Machine a stoner rock band from the Netherlands. I highly recommend the band, they are releasing a new album in October 2010. Thanks Shawn for asking me to do this. I'm really happy with the results. As a note, these have no orientation or order. I just picked it randomly to display on the site.

2009 - Animation Development
Update: We are almost finished the storyboards with Paul Morstad. Next step is the animatic and some animation tests. We pitch for the production stage in the new year!
A story of a young girl in search of her spirit. She discovers a mysterious book that leads her to a magic forest but she must first pass the forest's guardian, The Gast, to reach The Secret Grove. It seems impossible that a 12-year-old girl could defeat a mighty earth spirit. However, Ida is not an ordinary girl, she has a great power inside of her, she just doesn’t hasn't realized it yet.

2008 - Animation Development
This was a proposed animation project that was refused funding. WOMB was to be a short 1-2 minute animation developed in stereoscopic 3D. A highly expressive story of life before life, life within the womb. The film is seen through the eyes of an unborn child, which is never seen directly, and the structure of the film is composed securely to music and audio, which drives the animation.
This film idea was inspired by a drawing I made on a pizza box 2 days before I found out I was going to be a father

2007 Animation Development
This was development and research for a film that was never made. The piece explores the dreams and nightmares of a blue lamb as it lazily falls asleep beneath a tree while eating grass. Throughout its adventures, the lamb is chased by crazed butchers and farmers and encounters a giant soccer player larger than the tallest trees.

A collaborative conversation series between myself and novelist Larissa Lai. She would write poetry and send it to me and I would send back an image that didn't illustrate but yet continue the story. I wish we would do more. If only there were 1000 hours in a day
